Hi dear,

I am using mosquito 1.4.11 in our linux gateway & in backend broker 1.4.90. but when we upgraded our backend mosquito to 1.6.9 or higher version, we are observing multiple longer disconnection between gateway & backend broker even proper internet available in the gateway.

Please suggest root cause & resolution.

Regards,

Amrit

Hi Amrit,

Could you add a little more detail to your inquiry? Changes have been made that might affect the observed behavior. Could you check your broker logs and find the connections/drops you are referring to?
Make sure to set the log level to “all”.

Also your configuration files would be interesting.

Thanks for reply.

Please find backend mosquitto logs showing client disconnected for 38min & connected again automatically.

@Amrit

I’ve removed the config file from your post because it looks like it had important credentials in. If that is the case, please assume that they are now compromised and you should change the passwords.

Roger

Thank you for sending the logs. Unfortunately, I didn’t find any direct indication of the issue in them.

One possibility is that TLS v1.0 support was removed starting with Mosquitto version 1.6, which might affect older clients or configurations. However, since your most recent log suggests that a connection was established at least once, this is probably not the root cause in this case.

Given that both Mosquitto versions you’re working with are quite outdated, is there a specific reason why you haven’t upgraded to the latest available release? Newer versions may offer improved stability and compatibility, and could help resolve bridging issues like the one you’re experiencing.

We have already planned to upgrade gateway to latest mosquitto but due to existing inventory of gateway (mqtt v3), we need to backward compatible backend mosquitto v5 with GW.

Hello,

we want to use mosquitto recommended Authentication plugin for client authencation using database (postgress 17) & power user.

Can you suggest & provide binary for the same.
